Awesome lesson from the PB leaders Bro & Sis Lavender from the March Prayer Bootcamp upstairs. I felt like I should share this with you in case you wanted to go over it with your children. Enjoy the pics and listen to the video below that Sis. R made for you at the end.
Last month we talked about the main mission being the Kingdom of God. The mission CANNOT be successful if we are not spiritually healthy. To help others we need to be STRONG in the LORD. Today we are going talk about building our FAITH MUSCLES.
Rachael – (Run in exercising to music)
Travis – “Sis. Rachael, NOW what are you doing?”
Rachael – “Bro. Travis, duh, Don’t you know I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength? How can a soldier be STRONG in the LORD if she don’t work out? So, that’s what I am doing…it’s the PUNCH satan work out!
Right, Left (jab)…lift HIM up!
Right, Left…praise Him now!
1 2 3…Kick the devil!
(Have children stand and do exercise. Repeating once or twice)
Travis – Sis. Rachael. While physical exercise is important, I think what God was talking about is building your FAITH muscles.
Rachael – Faith is trust in God, right ?!
To have faith is to believe in something; to trust that it is so. Some people believe everything they are told. Others require proof for everything. Most people cannot have faith in something unless they know something about it. That is why God has always provided man with lots of proof of his existence and his love – so we can easily believe it and have faith in him.
Rachael – Romans 10:17 So then faith comesby hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (KJV)
We believe in God for many reasons: because we can see the incredible creation all around us, because he has provided witnesses to testify of him, because we see him working in the lives of those around us, and in our lives. God has never asked us to have faith without evidence. It would be silly to believe in something you have absolutely NO evidence of. God has given his people many reasons to believe in him and his promises.
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the confidence in what we hoped for and the assurance about what we cannot see.
Who believes that Africa exists? Have you ever been there? I have not seen Africa with my own eyes, but I have seen pictures of it. I have spoken to people from Africa. I have seen it on a map. Based on these evidences, I have no reason to doubt that there is a continent named Africa on the other side of the world.
We may not see God himself in this life, but there is evidence all around that he exists, and that he keeps his promises.
Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
Bro. Travis, that verse reminds me of a story in the bible…DOUBTING THOMAS.
Sis. Rachael, that’s right.
On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 20 After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.
21 Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” 22 And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.
24 Now Thomas (also known as Didymus[a]), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!”
But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”
26 A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”
28 Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”
29 Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.
Hebrews 11:6 “And without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever would approach him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”
Faith builds our spiritual muscles.
